Professor Camp teaches acting, directing, and playwriting, as well as courses in theatre history and literature. Prior to his arrival at Sweet Briar, he taught at Lewis & Clark College and the University of Puget Sound. He is a professional theater artist and scholar whose research investigates the perceptual experience of performance as it intersects with technology, place, and space. His plays include All Hands, Our Ruined House and the Obie-Award winning Chekhov Lizardbrain, a collaboration with Pig Iron Theatre Company. His writing has been published in Theater, PAJ, Comparative Drama, Conjunctions, Chain, Play A Journal of Plays and been anthologized by 53rd State Press. His play White on White received its NYC premiere in summer 2022 and was named a Critic’s Pick by The New York Times.
