Lore Guilmartin serves as Director of Library Services for the Mary Helen Cochran Library at Sweet Briar College.  She received a BA in Anthropology from Texas A&M University, an MS in Textiles and Clothing from Iowa State University, and an MSIS (Master of Science in Information Studies) from The University of Texas at Austin.  She earned a PhD in Anthropology from Texas A&M University, examining the role of clothing on the mid-19th century American mining frontier through artifacts recovered from the steamboat Bertrand.  Dr. Guilmartin’s professional interests focus on research education, teaching college and university library patrons how to research effectively, while studying and throughout their lives.
