Betty Wise

Betty Wise brings 25 years of experience as a certified Law Enforcement Officer to this position, including 14 years of increasingly responsible leadership roles at the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, where she rose from Sergeant to Lieutenant to Chief Deputy/Major.

Throughout her law enforcement career, she has made it a priority to closely communicate and build relationships with the community, coworkers and other local/state/federal agencies. She coordinated and supervised the daily operation of the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, which included budget control, planning, and following up with reported incidents. As a police officer with LYH Police Department, she enforced local/state/federal laws and regulations.

Additionally, Betty is a certified Firearms Instructor through DCJS and she also holds a certification in CPR and as an Emergency Medical Technician. She plans to utilize her experience and skills to continue fostering community engagement. She is a lifelong Amherst County native and in her free time, she enjoys being with her family, gardening, hunting and fishing.
