Sweet Briar Telephone & Voicemail

Dialing Instructions
  
  • On-Campus Calling: Dial the last 4-digits (extension) of the SBC phone number
  • Off-Campus Calling: Dial 9 + 10-digit phone number
Call Forwarding
  
  • To a SBC number - press the Forward key and enter the 4-digit extension, then press the Forward key again.
  • To a non-SBC number - press the Forward key, enter “9” plus the 10-digit number, then press the Forward key again.

Tip: to forward your calls to the same number, just press the Forward key twice. When you press Forward once, you will see the number that your phone is programmed to forward calls to.

Call Transfer
  

While on an active call, press the Transfer key, enter the number you want to transfer the call to, then press the Transfer key again.

Login
  

Logging in to your mailbox:

  • From your office phone, press the message key; from any other SBC phone, dial 6500; or 434-381-6500 from a non-SBC phone (ex. home or cell phone)
  • Enter the mailbox number (extension), then press #, or from your office phone, just press #
  • Enter the password, and then press #. If you need the password reset, please email helpdesktickets@sbc.edu with your request.

Setting up Auto-login:

  • While logged in, press 80, then 4 to turn Auto-Login on or off
  • Press 1 to turn it on; 2 to turn it off
Change Voicemail Password
  
  • While logged in to your mailbox, press 84 for Password Change
  • Enter your current password, and then press #
  • Enter your new password, and then press #
  • Enter your new password again, and then press #
Play, Delete or Respond to Messages
  
  • While logged in, press 2 to play the current message; press 1 to skip back 5 seconds, press 3 to skip forward; press 21 to play the message slower, 23 to play it faster; press # to stop, press 2 to continue
  • Press 6 to go to the next message; press 4 to go to the previous message
  • Press 9 to call the sender; 71 to reply to the message; 73 to forward the message and then 79 to send; press 76 to delete
Record Greetings
  

Each Greeting must be changed/deleted individually, changing one DOES NOT change them all!

  • While logged in to your mailbox, press 82 for Greetings
  • Press 1 for External Greeting, 2 for Internal, 3 for Temporary or 9 for Personal Verification (each Greeting must be changed/deleted individually, changing one DOES NOT change them all!)
  • Press 5 to record. Wait for the tone, then record
  • Press # to end the recording
  • Press 2 to review your recording; press 76 to delete greeting; press 4 to exit and return to your messages
